Ruben is the youngest of three brothers, all born and raised in the heart of Malaga. Together, they built a successful private transportation business, working closely with tourists arriving in Spain — families on holiday, retirees enjoying their second homes on the Costa del Sol, and cruise passengers docking at the port.
But while his brothers loved the road, Ruben loved what was at the end of it. Every time he dropped a guest at the Alcazaba, he found himself lingering. Reading the plaques. Studying the arches. Wondering who had walked these corridors a thousand years before him.
What started as casual conversations with passengers became something deeper. Ruben began studying Malaga's history obsessively — the Phoenician traders who founded the city 2,800 years ago, the Roman theatre buried beneath centuries of earth, the Moorish architects who turned the Alcazaba into one of the finest fortresses in Iberia.
He obtained his official tour guide license, became fluent in English and French alongside his native Spanish, and made a decision that would change his life: he would leave the driver's seat and step into the sunlight, standing beside the ancient stones he loved so much.
Today, Ruben doesn't just show you Malaga — he opens the door to all of Andalusia. From the breathtaking gorge of Ronda to the intricate mosaics of the Alhambra, from the orange-scented streets of Seville to the solemn beauty of Cordoba's Mezquita, every tour is a deeply personal journey.
Because Ruben doesn't follow a script. He reads his guests. A couple celebrating an anniversary gets a secret rooftop with champagne views. A family with children gets a treasure hunt through the Moorish fortress. A solo traveller gets the Malaga that only locals know — the hidden tapas bars, the street art alleys, the fisherman's quarter at dawn.
